When you need to know how feeder conductor ampacity should be adjusted for conditions other than standard temperature, you look up ampacity adjustment or correction factors for feeder conductors. These factors come from the NEC and tell you how to modify a conductor’s base ampacity to reflect real installation conditions, such as higher ambient temperatures or multiple current-carrying conductors in a raceway or cable. Applying these factors ensures the conductor can safely carry the intended load under those nonstandard conditions.

Conductor properties describe the inherent capability of the conductor itself at standard conditions, not how to adjust for varying temperatures. Neutral conductors are simply a conductor carrying the return current and don’t address ampacity adjustments. OCPD sizing rules deal with selecting protection devices, not adjusting conductor ampacity for environmental factors.
